Name Blocks

Tonight we made some fun little name blocks out of kids building blocks.  It would have been cheaper to make them out of a hunk of wood, and put some elbow grease into cutting and sanding them.  Me... I was in a hurry as I need them tomorrow for a photo shoot.  :)

Here are the finished blocks:

CHRISTIAN

Hard to read due to the light color of the papers.  Hoping they'll show up in professional pictures tomorrow.

PAIGE

Digital Camera

Much easier to read!

Here's how I made them:

PICT0010

  • Kids building blocks
  • Glossy Mod Podge
  • Acrylic Paint in White and Tan
  • Sponge Paint Brushes
  • Necessary snack of Gummy Worms  :D

(Please excuse the messy workspace... I was in a rush, and didn't slow to move messes for pictures)

First I painted the blocks quickly with the acrylic paint.  I did a quick job because I didn't want them fully covered, I wanted the grain to show through from the wood and wanted brush strokes to show.

PICT0004

I cut my squares just shy of the size of the blocks, and covered the front of the block with Mod Podge.

PICT0005

Press the paper firmly in place, and then add another layer of Mod Podge.  Allow to dry.

PICT0007

After the first layer of Mod Podge was dry on the front of the block, I went over the whole thing with another layer to seal it completely.  I left the bottoms undone, and will do that once the Mod Podge cures on the other five sides.  They kept sticking to everything otherwise.

The final step was to place the punch out letters on with a pop dot.  Easy Peasy!

Too long...

It's been far too long since my last blog post, and I apologize for that!  I haven't been scrapping so much as designing lately.  :)  But, tonight I got the chance to scrap a page.  Credit for the kit goes to LBCreations - Designs by Babette.  She's a remarkable designer.  This kit is titled God's Presence.  :)

The Eyes of a Child

Hey Everyone!

No scrap pages to share this time, but I wanted to share a funny story.  Paige (3yo in September) was playing with a little football that her Grammy-Poo and Grampa-Grampa sent her.  I asked if she wanted to play football, and she told me, "NO FOOT! ELBOW!"  I told her it was called a football, and she bent her arm and pointed her elbow at me, then turned the football so I was looking at the pointy end.  Sure enough... it looks like an elbow.  So, we now play "elbowball" at our home.  Ahhh... life through the eyes of a child.  :D

Peace and Blessings!

Best Friends

There are two women who are incredibly important in my life. They are my best friends, and worth more than gold and diamonds. I think about them constantly, and miss them with every fiber of my being when they're not here. Girls, I love you, and this page is for you!

Vacation

Well, due to my computer blowing up, I wasn't able to complete the scrap challenge on Scrapping Twisters. However, I have joined the June challenge on their new group... Scrapping Twisted Challenges. :) This month's theme is "Templates". They tell us what template to use, and then give us a theme to use for that page. The first one this month was "Friends" or "Grandparents" or "Vacation". I chose Vacation so that I could FINALLY do up the pages from my trip to California... two years ago! I'm very happy with the results...

What I Love About... The Bride

This is my friend, Amy. She is the closest I've ever had to a sister, and I love her to pieces. The extraction around her veil was tricky, but it was a labor of love!

What I Love About... My Favorite Movie

My favorite movie still has to be "A Walk to Remember". We saw it in the theatre together, and near the end I was sobbing. Jay sat next to me, slowly handing me a seemingly endless supply of tissues.
